Minibus Will Be a REAL Benefit

A COMMUNITY charity has left behind a legacy to ensure transport is not a problem for Rossendale people – an accessible minibus.

Rossendale Enterprise Anchor Limited, REAL, was based in Bacup now is located in the VIC Centre in Haslingden. For many years it worked with and for many local organisations.

Newchurch Celebrates Christmas in Style

Newchurch Village Community Association has been busy over the past few months raising money for new lights in the village community garden. They have been generously supported in this by the Local Member Grants Scheme from Lancashire County Council and Rossendale Borough Council’s Neighbourhood Forum with 50% of the total cost being match funded by Rossendale Borough Council themselves.

Business As Usual During Bacup Building Works

The Bacup THI work is making excellent progress with the completion of a couple of shops already.

Works currently taking place on Pioneer are on-going with installing new shop fronts and stone masons are on site to start the extensive stone repairs to the building.

Work is also taking place at 33 St James Street (RSPCA Building) where repair works to the chimneys and roof repairs are being carried out.

New Shop Front Improvement Scheme launched In Haslingden

Shopkeepers and traders in Haslingden town centre are encouraged to take advantage of a new scheme, launched by Rossendale Borough Council, to support traders to carry out improvement work to their shops.

Under the new scheme, traders will be able to apply for grants of up to £2000 to improve the appearance of their shops.

Rawtenstall Bus Station Plans Amended Following Successful Public Consultation

The RTB Partnership has now concluded the month long public consultation on the new bus station plans for Rawtenstall Town Centre.

The consultation involved a week of public sessions which saw over 300 people come and see the plans, and talk to the team.

During the consultation we received 229 comment forms and we have been able to analyse these throughout the consultation process.

Rossendale Businesses Win Big at the Lancashire Tourism Awards

Rossendale came away with two fantastic awards from last night’s Marketing Lancashire Tourism Awards.

The Whitaker Gallery and Museum won the cultural and tourism award last night at the Marketing Lancashire Tourism Awards ceremony in Blackpool.

The award names them as the best cultural and tourism offer in the whole county.

Bacup THI Work Is Underway

The programme of works for the Bacup THI Project has now started.Bacup THI

The Pioneer Building is currently being worked on which will see repairs to the clock tower and roof, new shop fronts based on the original designs dating from 1914 as well as stone and iron works to preserve the heritage aspects of the building.
