Cleaner Buses for Rossendale

Rossendale Borough Council has won £485,000 from the Department of Transport for Rosso to equip 38 buses with new greener technology to cut harmful emissions.

To win the funding, we had to show that the technology would reduce nitrogen oxide emissions by at least 50%.

Outside of Transport for London (50), Rossendale received enough funding to convert the most busses in this scheme (38), this will be a real benefit for Rossendale communities in terms of air quality and modern public transport.

Defibrillator Installed at Council Offices

A potentially lifesaving piece of equipment has been installed at Council offices at Futures Park, Bacup.

The Council’s Facilities Team has organised the installation of a Community Public Access Defibrillator (CPAD) on the side of the building at Futures Park, which can be accessed 24/7 and can help save the lives of those going through cardiac arrest.

Rossendale Community Fund: New Grants Scheme Provides Support to Local Groups

Four local community organisations have received grants from a new scheme launched by Rossendale Borough Council in September.

Edgeside and District Community Partnership, Home-start Rossendale, Maden Early Years and the White Horse Project have all been awarded grants of £1000 in the first round of the Rossendale Community Fund.

The Rossendale Community Fund was created by Rossendale Borough Council in partnership with the Community Foundation for Lancashire to offer grants to support projects that help families, and children and young people in Rossendale engage in community activities and learning.

Rossendale Borough Council is currently considering options for Waterside Mill, the derelict building on Burnley Road, Bacup.

We are working with support from Valley Heritage and Regenerate Pennine Lancashire on the future of the Mill, and we are going out to consultation which will propose to move the Mill into the Conservation area.

Councillors Approve Combined Authority Discussions for Rossendale

Councillors in Rossendale decided last night at the Council meeting to progress with consultation plans on joining forces with Local Authorities across Lancashire to create a Combined Authority.

Councillors were asked to note the progress made so far and decide on whether they want to agree in principle to the Combined Authority and take part in a public consultation early in the New Year, which they did.

2016/17 Budget Consultation

Bacup Christmas Cracker!

Bacup got into the festive spirit this weekend, in spite of Storm Desmond! The event was by no means a wash out, a few hundred people enjoyed the festivities and Bacup market was in festive mood.

Santa paid a visit and set up his Grotto, there was face painting and balloon making alongside the retro vintage market.
