Rossendale Forest volunteers wanted to plant 400 trees

Rossendale Council are asking for volunteers to plant 400 trees as part of the award-winning initiative- Rossendale Forest. 

Rossendale Forest, the council’s tree planting initiative to plant a tree for every child in the borough – that’s 16,000 trees – between 2022-2025 – has successfully planted more than 11,500 trees since the start of 2022.

Community heroes celebrated

Community heroes from across Rossendale were crowned at Rossendale Council’s 2019 Community Awards at the Riverside, Whitworth.

The awards, held on Thursday, November 14, celebrated individuals and groups who go the extra mile to support others and help make their neighbourhoods better places to live.

120 nominations were made, with 34 finalists in attendance hoping to scoop one of eleven awards handed out on the night.

Whitworth takes part in the Great British Spring Clean

Over the weekend from 3rd March to 5th March areas all over Great Britain have been meeting to ‘spring clean’ their towns and Whitworth is no exception. 

Thanks to the work of an exceptional group of volunteers ‘Keep Whitworth Tidy’, this weekend another 28 bags of rubbish were removed from local streets and public areas by sixteen volunteers.

Call for Local Community Heroes

Volunteers Wanted!

Proffitts are working on a project in Lumb with Peers Clough Farm which has been funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund.

The project has 2 aims:

  • To hold 3 weeks’ worth of training with a Master Dry Stone Waller to repair a section of stone wall alongside a right of way.

Recent Floods in Rossendale: An Open Letter

Rossendale Borough Council would like to thank all residents, business owners, local groups and volunteers for their help, support and assistance during the Boxing Day floods and in the aftermath.

We would also like to thank our local partners for the help and assistance they have provided during these events; Lancashire County Council, the Environment Agency, Lancashire Police, Lancashire Fire and Rescue and United Utilities.
