The Haslingden Big Lamp Project shines bright

Haslingden town is set to receive a transformative boost through the Haslingden Big Lamp Project. With £2.8 million in investment, the project promises to revitalise the town centre, preserving its rich heritage while ushering in a new era of prosperity.  The National Lottery Heritage Fund are supporting the project with £1.9m of funding, with further funding secured from Rossendale Borough Council, and dedicated private individuals who share a passion for preserving the past and enhancing the future.

Healthy eating award scheme ‘Recipe 4 Health’ launched in Rossendale

A new healthy eating award scheme, Recipe 4 Health, has been launched in Rossendale this week, with two businesses already receiving their award. Millie Masons and Spicy Jack Deli located in Rawtenstall market have both received their bronze awards.  

Recipe 4 Health is a Lancashire Trading Standards scheme and is awarded by Lancashire County Council and supported locally by Environmental Health Officers from Rossendale Borough Council.

End in sight for traffic chaos on Rossendale road

Rossendale Borough Council has received notification from Lancashire County Council (LCC) that the rock fall on Bacup Road, Waterfoot, which has been causing severe delays in the area, will be cleared by September 2. 

Highways have now confirmed that a programme to repair the damaged section has been put in place and the vegetation growing through the remaining mesh will be removed.

Stockport man prosecuted for fly tipping in Rossendale

A 35-year-old man from Stockport has been found guilty of dumping a large amount of rubbish on Laneside Road, Haslingden by Burnley Magistrates Court, following a case brought by Rossendale Borough Council. 

Mr Seamus Conroy of Goyt Valley Way, Stockport, appeared at Burnley Magistrates and pleaded guilty to fly tipping. He was fined £320 and ordered to pay £250 costs and £34 victim surcharge.

Rossendale Borough Council searches for applicants to lead £17m regeneration project

Rossendale Borough Council has launched a search for the project lead who will oversee major developments following the award of more than £17m in government funding.     

The Council is seeking applications for the role of consultant project manager/contract administrator as it embarks on its capital regeneration programme.  

The opportunity comes following the awarding of more £17m from the government’s Capital Regeneration Project (CRP) Fund that will support its placemaking ambitions.

In a record-breaking year Stubbylee and Moorlands Park is raising its prestigious Green Flag Award for the third year running. 

Rossendale Borough Council is celebrating after receiving the prestigious Green Flag Award for Stubbylee and Moorlands Park. 

The news that the park has achieved the accreditation – the international quality mark for parks and green spaces – is testament to the hard work and dedication of the council team and group of volunteers that care for the green space so that everyone can enjoy it.

Rossendale leads the way in youth work programmes

Rossendale Council’s Youth Hub and Works programmes, Rossendale Works and Rossendale Youth Works, have been recognised at an event attended by Council Leader, MP Jake Berry and leaders at the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and Active Lancashire. 

Rossendale Youth Hub was established to assist 16 to 24-year-olds become work ready and helped into employment following a spike in youth unemployment caused by Covid restrictions.

South Pennines launches alternative National Park

An alternative National Park — covering 460 square miles of Yorkshire, Lancashire and Greater Manchester — including Rossendale, was launched today.

South Pennines Park aims to champion the landscape, its people and businesses in order to bolster recognition and unlock resources for the only upland in England that is not a designated National Park or Area of Outstanding Beauty.

Employability Fair a huge success

An employability Fair organised by Rossendale Works, which is run by Rossendale Council has been hailed a huge success.

Scores of jobs were on offer at local businesses who held stalls at the packed employability fair held at Rossendale Council chambers at Futures Park in Bacup.

A job seeker attending the event was delighted to walk away with an interview.

Opportunities for all as Council hosts employment event

BUSINESSES, organisations and training providers will be setting out their stall at an employability event being organised by Rossendale Works. 

It will be held on Friday August 20 in the Rossendale Council Chamber at Futures Park and will have 20 businesses represented with staff from the council’s employability projects Rossendale Works and Rossendale Youth Works also on hand.
