Bacup Post Office will be modernised and is set for longer opening hours as part of The Post Office’s new investment scheme.

The Post Office will open a newly modernised “main” Post Office at 5 Burnley Road, Bacup, OL13 8AA.

  • Opening hours increased to 46 hours a week
  • Convenient, quick service, new modern layout
  • Banking services for personal customers and small businesses
  • Bill payment, banking, benefits and travel money
  • Postage, home shopping returns, Local Collect
  • Financial Services Advice

The service, which will launch at 1pm on Monday 30 January, will be provided from four serving positions, one modern screened, two open plan and a Post Office serving point for use at the retail counter, which is available during shop opening hours offering selected services.

The branch will open from 9am to 5:30pm, Monday – Saturday. The opening hours which will increase on a Saturday afternoon by an extra 5 hours will offer more choice of times to visit.

The modernised Bacup Post Office will be delighted to welcome customers to the newly refurbished branch. Local residents and small business customers will be able to access a wide range of Post Office and mails services, including international parcels, Special Delivery, Local Collect and home shopping returns, make cash withdrawals from a Post Office Card Account, send funds abroad using Moneygram, pay bills, buy holiday money, get insurance, mortgages, savings and top up mobile phones.

As the traditional banking network declines, customers for the majority (99%) of UK banks can use their post office for online banking cash deposits and withdrawals and bill payments.

The Post Office will need to close at 5:30pm on Wednesday 18 January for the refurbishment to take place. During this short time of closure Post Office services may be accessed from any convenient Post Office branch including:

  • Stacksteads Post Office, 404-406 Newchurch Road, Bacup, OL13 0LD
  • Rawtenstall Post Office, 16 Kay Street, Rossendale, BB4 7LS

Anne Clark, Post Office Area Manager said:

“We are making it easier for customers to get their cash, send and collect their mail and do their banking because we know how important these services are to local residents.

We are confident that this vibrant new-style Post Office at the heart of the local community will meet customer needs. This modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office.”
