Council Grant Supports Community Website

The REAL Directory community website is going from strength to strength and thanks to a grant from Rossendale Council the website is funded for the next 12 months.

The website, www.realtd.co.uk provides community information to people living or working in Rossendale and is now a significant source of information on community organisations and events in Rossendale.  The Council grant of £1000 will cover the costs of website hosting and maintenance fees for the next 12 months to ensure the site remains available.

The site is a valuable resource and includes community news, a calendar of events and a comprehensive directory of services covering details of a wide range of ‘not for profit’ organisations and services provided for the benefit of Rossendale citizens.  These range from small, local groups supporting a particular cause to nearby branches of larger organisations that may have a wider presence.  The directory is easy to use and can be searched in a number of ways including by category, A-Z, by location and keyword.

Barry Payton, Trustee of REAL said;

“The REAL Directory is increasingly being used by members of the community looking for information and also by professionals working in health and wellbeing to find information on services that can support their clients.  We are grateful to the Council for their support”

Cllr Alyson Barnes, Leader of Rossendale Council said;

“We recognise that the REAL Directory website is a really useful source of information on local community groups and services and the Council is pleased to help with the running costs.”
