Whitworth takes part in the Great British Spring Clean

Over the weekend from 3^rd March to 5^th March areas all over Great Britain have been meeting to ‘spring clean’ their towns and Whitworth is no exception.

Thanks to the work of an exceptional group of volunteers ‘Keep Whitworth Tidy’, this weekend another 28 bags of rubbish were removed from local streets and public areas by sixteen volunteers.

Civic Pride Are Bloomin’ Marvellous

On Friday 28th October at the Britain in Bloom Award Ceremony , Civic Pride were finally made aware of how much the Royal Horticultural Society were prepared to recognise the dedication, inspiration and sheer hard graft shown by all their hardworking volunteers and supporters.

After coffee we took our places at the lunch table whilst winners of specific competitions were announced – including Best Newcomer, Civic Pride Rawtenstall!

Darren Needs You!

Earlier in the summer we asked for your help to support one of Veternas In Communities’ (VIC) members, Darren Horsnell, in his nomination as a North West finalist for the Britain Has Spirit awards.

We’re delighted that Darren won the individual North West final and is now in the national final.

Happi Announce Community Party Plans Following Award Success

Rossendale won in both the group and individual North West rounds of the Britain Has Spirit Competition with Happi claiming the group winner’s prize and VIC’s Darren Horsnell claiming the individual winners prize.

With their prize from Britain Has Spirit, HAPPI are holding a Community Street Party to celebrate the 80th Birthday of the opening of Haslingden Baths from 2-4pm on Sunday 21st August 2016 in the playground of Haslingden Primary School.

Community Column: Britain in Bloom Judging

If you were in Rawtenstall last Thursday morning (July 21st) you may have seen a group of individuals in Civic Pride hi-vis jackets walking around admiring the gardens. Judgement Day 21.7.'16-7-Edit What was remarkable was that they weren’t weeding, planting, digging, pruning, sweeping up or picking litter which is what they’ve been doing day after day, in all weathers for many weeks during the lead up to Britain in Bloom!

Rossendale is Awarded a Double Dose of Spirit

After a month of voting, it has now been confirmed that HAPPI and Darren Horsnell are winners of the regional award for Britain Has Spirit!

HAPPI have been awarded up to £1,000 pounds worth of food and party goods towards a fantastic street party to celebrate with our community.

Darren Horsnell from Veterans In Communities won in the individuals category and wins an experience day.
