Rossendale rail link study launched

Rossendale Council, working in partnership with Lancashire County Council, has commissioned the Centre for Economics and Business Research (CEBR) consultants to explore the potential for rail connections to the borough.

The study will look at the early strategic case for investment for the Rawtenstall to Manchester corridor. This would involve tram-trains, accessing the Metrolink network at Buckley Wells (Bury) or alternatively using a heavy rail curve at Castleton.

Council leader welcomes Flying Scotsman visit

The Flying Scotsman is visiting Rawtenstall Station for its first public outing of 2018 on March 10 and 11.  You can find more details on East Lancashire Railway site

Welcoming the news that the famous locomotive is coming to the borough, Councillor Alyson Barnes, Leader of the Council, said:
