Businesses and residents are being urged to help bring potential investment into Haslingden town centre.

The Haslingden Taskforce wants to hear ideas from all quarters on how to improve the area as it aims to attract significant, external funding for regeneration.

The taskforce, made up of councillors, residents, businesses, community groups and council officers, is holding drop-in sessions at Haslingden Library on:

  • Thursday, November 29 – 10am-2pm
  • Tuesday, December 4 – 3pm-6pm
  • Saturday, January 12 – 10am-1pm

They are an opportunity for people to say what improvements they think would make the town centre more attractive to locals and visitors.

Rossendale Council leader Alyson Barnes said:

In the last few years the taskforce has played a critical part in bringing about improvements to the town centre, such as installing the outdoor gym at Victoria Park, removing chewing gum from pavements and installing 74 hanging baskets.

But we don’t want to stop there; town centres are changing and we need to ensure that Haslingden stays current and attractive for residents and visitors.

It’s not yet clear what funding programmes and schemes are open for application but we want to gather as many ideas as possible so that when funding opportunities are released, we are ahead of the game and in a great position to apply.

This is just one way the taskforce will be getting people’s views; it will also be working closely with local businesses, building owners, schools and community groups.
