Rossendale is set to come alive with a fantastic series of events taking place this summer, from the Northern Grip biking festival to the Boo Puppet Festival, there’s something for everyone.

Highlights include the Northern Grip Mountain Bike Festival, which will kick-start the Summer of adrenaline with a two day festival starting today and running throughout the weekend.

With the action taking place between Stubbylee Park, Lee Quarry and neighbouring Cragg Quarries, it promises to provide some challenges and excitement for even the most experienced mountain bikers.

Live music, bike clinics, Q and A sessions, demonstration bikes and great food and drink make it unmissable for any biking enthusiast.

Alternatively experience a unique event this weekend at The Whitaker, which has a festival dedicated to local traditions

It will see an afternoon of ‘Song, Dialect and Dance’ on Saturday from 12-5pm and Brass on the Grass on Sunday from 2-6pm with stalls, books, clog making, food and rare films also being shown.

And the Boo Puppet Festival is also a weekend of fun for all the family.

From 14 to 16 July, the festival features theatre shows (at accessible prices) free puppetry, music, walkabouts and making activities.

And don’t forget towards the end of the Summer there is the Rossendale 60s weekend taking place on 8-10 September.

Being held at a range of venues there will be a variety of 60s themed activities including ‘Scoot Rossendale’ at Bacup Cricket, which is set to attract even more scooters than last year, a special ‘Anything Goes’ Clog Market in Rawtenstall and Artisan also in Rawtenstall, will be staging music sets throughout the weekend.

Councillor Andy MacNae. Portfolio Holder for Regeneration, Leisure and Tourism at Rossendale Borough Council, said:
