Road Surface Improvements to Be Carried Out

Published February 22, 2016 at 12:07

Lancashire County Council (LCC), the Highways Authority in Rossendale, carried out road surfacing work last year on a number of sites in Rossendale that have now showed signs of failure. LCC have investigated this and they have completed surveys of all the sites. They have confirmed that they will be doing remedial works in the Spring. In the meantime LCC have confirmed they will be sweeping and monitoring the site until the works are carried out, as the highways safety is their top priority.

The cost of the remedial works, to the satisfaction of the County Council, will be wholly met by the contractor and we do apologise as there will be a degree of disruption to both residents and network users as the remedial works are carried out.

Information boards have been placed on the affected roads by the provider to apologise for the inconvenience to motorists; to confirm that works to rectify the roads will be carried out in Spring/Summer and to provide their direct telephone number for queries which is 01925 752165.

Residents and motorists can also contact LCC direct at highwaysdirect@lancashire.gov.uk / highways@lancashire.gov.uk, or telephone: 0300 123 6780.

Remedial works will be being carried out in Rossendale at the following sites;

Rossendale C701 Bury/Burnley Rd (East St – LC 27)
A680 Manchester Rd (Regent St – Tesco Roundabout)
A681 Bacup Rd Newchurch (Townsend st – Toll Bar)
C705 Hud Rake/High St/Church St (Regent St – Blackburn Rd)
Holcombe Rd Haslingden (Station Rd – Grane Rd)
