Councillor Alyson Barnes, Chair of the RTB Partnership and Leader of the Council, said: “I am pleased the scheme has been given planning permission. We listened to people and now I believe these plans are the right mix of preserving the area’s heritage as well as creating a vibrant town centre. We want Rossendale to prosper, these plans are key to bringing in new investment and will create new jobs. But I am also clear we need to reflect the borough’s history and what makes it special.”

Cllr Darryl Smith, RTB Partnership Board Member, said “I’m pleased that the revised plans for the bus station development have been passed. The RTB Partnership has worked hard over the last nine months or so to ensure residents thoughts and opinions have been listened to and I believe the design which finally went forward reflected that”.

We want an attractive and exciting development which reflects Rawtenstall’s history on this site and we believe these plans deliver that.”
