Stubbylee Park in Bacup is in line for a prestigious national award.
The park is in the running for the Fields in Trust UK’s Best Parks 2019 award.
On the website, the nomination says: “The park is strongly supported by local community organisations that have raised over £300,000 to develop the park facilities. As well as traditional park features there is a thriving therapeutic and crafts community business and café, a Crisis Support project and the East Lancashire Recovery Project.”
Councillor Andrew Walmsley, who has been heavily involved in improving the park, said:
“We’re delighted that the park is up for best park in the country. The community with Council support have really put in the effort to transform the park into the lovely one it is today.
“It shows what can be achieved when everyone works together with a clear vision and a little bit of imagination.
“There’s so much to be positive about and there’s more to come. I hope everyone gets voting and brings the award home.”
