Rossendale Council employee and budding author, Dawn Ashworth has published her very own children’s story. The book called ‘The Story of Jimmy Mouse and of Course Tommy Cat’ tells the tale of an unlikely friendship.

The story was originally told to Dawn who works in the Parks Department, by her father when she was a child. However, she has now put pen to paper and brought it to life in a children’s book beautifully illustrated by friend Jim Binnie.

The book, which is dedicated to Dawn’s grandchildren Evie and Oliver, has special significance for the family as Dawn intends to donate any profits to Diabetes UK.

Dawn said

Evie was diagnosed with type 1 two years ago when aged 5 and I feel I owe a lot to that particular organisation.

However, Dawn is not the only author in the Ashworth household. Husband Graham is an established writer with five novels to his name along with a collection of short stories.

And finally, not to be overshadowed, Evie has just had her poem, ‘Feline Tales’ accepted for publication following her entry in The Young Writers Poetry Competition.

‘The Story of Jimmy Mouse and of Course Tommy Cat’ is available in paperback and ebook versions, at Amazon UK Books. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Story-Jimmy-Mouse-Course-Tommy-ebook/dp/B07572JF7C
