Councillor to sleep out for charity

A Rossendale councillor will be sleeping outside as part of a charity event to raise awareness of homelessness.

Councillor Steve Hughes, Chair of Rossendale Council’s Licensing Committee, will be taking part in the CEO Sleepout on Monday, October 15 in a bid to raise money for charities helping in the fight against homelessness and poverty.

Joining Councillor Hughes on the night will be other business and community leaders from across the North West.

CEO Sleepout is a charity that was set up to fight homelessness and poverty across the United Kingdom and aims to bring together business and other community organisations to raise awareness.

Councillor Hughes will be raising money for: LCCC Foundation, Mustard Tree, MASH, and Back on Track

Councillor Hughes said:

I’m delighted to be taking part and sleeping outside with other big-hearted business and community leaders to help fight against homelessness. Any support and donations will be greatly received and will go a long way to helping these charities fight the real issue of homelessness and poverty in our communities.
