Rossendale Council is organising an open day which will provide a chance to find out about the project so far and look at what is still to come from this heritage restoration project.
The Open Day will be at the AB&D Centre, Burnley Road, Bacup, 10am – 2:30pm on Saturday December 3rd 2016. It will be an engaging session that will update residents and businesses on the Bacup THI Project and launch the new consultation on the Public Realm Street Scene plans.
There will a wide range on information and activities to take part in on the day, you can view photos of the work we have carried out in phase one, see plans for phase two pf the project and the new public realm plans will be on display for comment.
Bacup Camera Club will also be putting on a photo exhibition of 20 stunning black and white photos of Bacup’s heritage buildings and features. If you fancy yourself as a photographer we will also be running a photo competition, ‘Your Bacup Exposed’ where you can submit your own photos of people enjoying Bacup to the projects twitter account (@BacupTHI) to its Facebook page (Facebook/BacupTHI) or email them in to thi@rossendalebc.gov.uk There will be an adult and child category with a prize up for grabs in each which will be presented at 2:15pm.
You will also be able to find out about upcoming training events we will be organising through the project as well as enjoy a Heritage Talk on shop fronts at 11 and 12noon.
Bethan Frost, Conservation Officer at Rossendale Council encourage people to attend the event;
“If you are interested in the Bacup THI, please come to this open day and find out more about the improvements the project has made so far and see the images showing the next run of shopfronts to undergo improvement works. You will also be able to see and make comments on the new proposed public realm scheme, and discuss the proposals or the project in general with us.”
The Bacup THI will make a vast improvement to some of Bacup’s most treasured buildings, and we welcome your comments on the public realm proposals and would be pleased to answer any questions on the project. Kathy Fishwick form Rossendale Civic Trust’s heritage shopfront talk is not to be missed. It will be illuminating and provide insight into the development of the shops in Bacup.”
